Sister

will you tell me it's okay to dance 

to be sensuous 

wild

naked

and free

would you remind me that I am safe within your gaze 

will you take my hand and dive into the river with me ?

When we ascend the sun will bare witness as we sing 

in no contest

With the spirit of love 

let us be havens for one another 

in these epics of girl and womanhood

you know you have always been my sacred mirror 

and for all that has been ugly 

twice more has been good

there in the melody of your laugh

the warmth of your smile 

and the sentiment of your touch 

is the light that leads me back home

so shine my beautiful sister 

show me the way
